Though Skype calls quickly resolved issues, it was a luxury, as it required time which was convenient to two or more parties, and reliable Internet connections which was not always the case.
Most communication was text-based for three reasons: it was quick, served as a record of the interaction, and allowed for multiple persons to note the information exchange at their own convenience.
This sub-team would alert the rest of the OC team if a key task had begun, or when the area of responsibility was completed. At times, communication gaps did occur, but were filled during the request for an update. By having informal sub-teams, this allowed other team members whose tasks were not immediate to focus on other project matters and responsibilities external to the project.
There was one Multimedia Specialist MMS assigned to the project see figure 1 , however, this was risky because there was no true plan in place in case the MMS was not able to carry out the numerous tasks for whatever reason e. The replacement MMS was expected to do simple edits, as complex changes would have been very difficult to achieve — especially without having been involved from the start of the project.
